If you can appreciate a well written book, this is the book for you. Some of the descriptions are so cleverly developed, which makes this a very interesting read. It's not entertaining, it more of a statement on the poor in Los Angeles displaced due to the freeway system that ended much of their urban community. It is written in a very captivating manner. The character, their surroundings, and actions are described in a way that I don't think I've ever experienced in a novel. This writer is very talented in that regard.

Slow to start, but ultimately a beautiful, heart-breaking novel.
I love this book immensely. It can be very confusing, but this only adds to the theme of chaos and and lack of identity found in the novel. Read it, then read it again. You will be very glad you did.
Author tries too hard to emulate conventions of experimental prose and modernism.
