Broken Honor HORNET Tonya Burrows 9781622666546 Books
I have read so many of the military books, where the heroes are broken, but don't recall anyone quite as shattered as Quinn. My heart went out to him, his childhood, his chance with adoptive parents, his life and health, fear of not being enough... It all was just too much for one man to carry and handle. His golden heart, caring for others, always sacrificing for others, he is the perfect hero in his broken shell and soul.Mara had fallen in love with this broken man, and now they would be bonded for the rest of their lives, because of the baby. And I understand she was pregnant, and had always let everyone walk over her before, but the mood swings, and back and forth with Quinn -- really got to me after a while.
There's plenty of action, running for their lives, and trying to save Mara, at any cost. I loved that there was so much dialog, I always enjoy that. But I wish there would have been more describing of the scenery. I could not set myself into the story, many of the scenes I had to get back and try to understand what, where, why, cause I just didn't get that from the story.
As always, I enjoy the camaraderie of the men. The friendship between Gabe and Quinn was something to cherish. The connection with the team was amazing, and the sadness Quinn felt for the former SEAL team was another 'heart broke' -moment. With all the dysfunctional elements in the HORNET team, they functioned well, and were willing to take the bullet for each other, so admirable.
You can't always choose your blood relations, but you can build a family of those who love you and are willing to stand by you in all the moments of your life. Even though I had a hard time getting into the story, that message came through loud and clear

Broken Honor HORNET Tonya Burrows 9781622666546 Books Reviews
Be prepared dear reader, to be suffering a severe case of emotional whiplash after finishing this book, as Tonya Burrows drags the readers emotions all over the place and it's so worth it.
I was hooked from the moment that the author said this book was going to be Quinn's story and I finished the book with a big fat happy sigh. Okay, maybe a few deep breaths too.
This is a fast paced, intense, action packed book that doesn't let up on the emotions or the breath holding moments. There are also a few times when you will want to throw your ereader or book across the room or have you yelling no, just no. Though the author takes us on a wild ride, rest assured there is a happy ending.
Quinn and Mara are just fantastic together. It so much fun to see Mara go toe to toe with the big bad ass that is Quinn. Throw in an unexpected pregnancy and you really get to see what both these characters are made of. Steel, that's what. Let's not forget the chemistry that sparks between them all the time. These two are hot together.
"Christ, she was like his own personal drug, and he’d been jonesing for more of her since November. And now that he’d had her again, he didn’t know if he’d ever be able to quit her. Yeah. He was in trouble."
When Mara is kidnapped in order to get to Quinn, all hell breaks loose and Quinn recruits his HORNET team to help save her and their unborn baby. But when things end up FUBAR and the secret that Quinn has been carrying in his damaged brain finally comes to light, can the good guy/s save the day and the girl? Or will it all be too late.
This is the third book in the Hornet series and each keeps getting better. While it can be read as a stand alone, if you haven't read the other books at the end of this one, you will. We get all the guys from the team and their camaraderie that at times makes them seem more like family than a team of mercenaries.
So much happens within the pages of this book that it's hard to convey it all. But I will say that once you start you might not want to stop till you are finished. And you WILL finish this book with a happy grin. I loved the epilogue so much. Sigh......Quinn with a baby.
I am already looking forward to the next book, you will have no trouble guessing who it will belong to. It's going to be another fun ride.
I was supplied a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.
From the beginning I was just in a state of "ok" with the book. I didn't feel connected to the H nor the h. Maybe because I didn't read from book one but this can be read as a standalone but I was still confused with the many characters in this book.
The plot was good if I do say so myself but it just didn't flow as I would of liked... it was just a tad bit too much going on and the back and forth between characters was just confusing me. Quinn was also just a bit too standoffish and Mara was pissing me off in the sense that when Quinn pushed her away with his harsh words she would come back crying and letting him in so easily.
I love RS but this wasn't my cup of tea.
