Yet - all-in-all - the book does not have the depth of some others, but Kim is still very young and her story in heart-breaking - and sometimes simply "puzzling"....

I enjoyed this book (especially the recipes at the end of each chapter). Made me hungry for French food and all other kinds of spicy yummy food. Well written.
I understand other reader's comments about the book feeling unfinished. But really, wouldn't it be sad if a person's memoirs could considered complete at Kim's age? The unfinished ending left me with two feelings understanding the lack of closure she felt towards being abandoned, and hope that she would someday find peace that she sought through her cooking and culinary explorations.

I found this book refreshing. Rather than having a psychologist explain the feelings adopted children may experience, Kim demonstrates how those feelings affect her decisions through the story of her life - or the story of her life thus far. There was no unnecessary drama, no child abuse, etc, just a woman in search of an answer she may never find. Why had her mother abandoned her?
Awesome book for women and men to read, its about finding what you want in life. Great memoir reading.
The writer connected with the gentleman making French face creams and soaps... The story is a soap opera.... Arrived in good condition and fast. Learned about this title from reads. Thank you.
A friend gave me this memoir/novel for me a few years ago because I have an adopted daughter. I gave it to my niece because she loves L’ocitain products.
This was such a great memoir. I loved the honesty and voice the author shares with the reader. She weaves her experiences in with such amazing detail. The food she describes made my mouth water throughout. I loved this book... and I wish this author all the happiness in the world.
